Oil on canvas 21cmx29cm

from a photo by sullentity "wept" (of me)

I've been doing some b & w paintings to get me to focus on light and where it is coming from.
I'm pretty happy with this one... except that the scanner did a crappy job...

This is a great image. I love the idea of limiting color to get a keener grasp on light. I just read a quaote of Georgia O'Keefe where she limited herself to black and white for several months. Congratualtions on a brave experiment

too much daisy for your duke...
This is truely wonderful.
Apart from technically doing a fantastic job, the mood of the piece is amazing.. The vast amounts of negative space really give a feeling of isolation and solitude. :+fav:

Thanks! I didn't realise that other people had done this! I am still painting my normal images at the same time, but i felt i needed to study light a bit more to be able to move forward. Maybe my husband won't think I'm so crazy now... :clueless:
thankyou! I did cheat on the negative space though. It's from one of my husband's photos (sullentity)- the negative space was his idea
Thankyou! :blowkiss: I'm glad that you can appreciate the light and shadow. I thought it would be much easier than it was...
with pleasure
